Senior Safety Business Partner role, Melbourne based, influencing leaders across logistics and maritime operation

We are partnering with a well-established national logistics operator to recruit an experienced Safety & Environment Business Partner. This is a hands-on, operationally focused role where you will work closely with leaders to strengthen safety culture, embed critical risk controls and drive continuous improvement across a geographically diverse business.

Based in Melbourne, the role requires monthly travel to Tasmania to support operational sites, leaders and frontline teams.
This is not a desk-bound compliance role. You will be visible, pragmatic and commercially aware, helping leaders make good safety decisions that actually work in the real world.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with operational leaders to provide practical WHS advice and coaching
  • Embed critical risk management and lead risk assessments, JSAs and SWMS
  • Lead and support incident investigations and post-incident learning
  • Support Chain of Responsibility and NHVR compliance in collaboration with internal teams
  • Contribute to WHS governance, audits, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Deliver safety insights through data, reporting and trend analysis
About you
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a safety business partner or advisory role
  • Background in logistics, transport, maritime or other high-risk environments
  • Strong working knowledge of WHS and NHVR legislation across VIC and TAS
  • Experience with ISO 45001, incident investigations and safety management systems
  • Confident communicator who can influence at all levels
  • Full driver’s licence and willingness to travel monthly to Tasmania
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Work Health & Safety or higher
  • ICAM or equivalent incident investigation qualification preferred
  • WHS Auditor qualification highly regarded
