A large commercial construction business with multiple ongoing projects including the building of hospitals and schools is seeking to grow their safety team with additional resources.
You will be the main safety resource on any one of this companies large scale projects and work with contractors, tradespeople and the site manager to ensure implementation of the company's WHS Management systems.
As a key member of the safety team, the role will include the following key tasks -
- Develop and maintain full compliance with WHS policies and procedures.ensuring Project Safety Plans are established and maintained on all sites.
- Provide feedback and suggestions regularly to the WHSE Manager to improve the implementation and operation of systems and procedures.
- Advise line managers of changes to WHSE legislation, safety alerts, codes of practice etc.
- Participate in project audits and ensure actions and non-conformance resulting from an audit are closed out within timelines.
- Assist with the objective of management of subcontractors to achieve timely progress, and safe delivery of the project.
- Encourage and support staff and contractors across the business to be actively involved in, and show leadership of a positive safety culture.
- Experience in undertaking safety inspections and other safety monitoring activities including the development of audit reports and close out of corrective actions is essential.
In this role you will utilise your strong influencing skills and knowledge of construction practices as you drive compliance with the WHS systems. You will need a level of construction site experience together with a strong working knowledge of AS/NZ standards related to WHS.
It goes without saying that sound communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to consult and collaborate are vital in this role.
